Hi I’m Laurie
It’s nice to meet you
I’m not a fan of traditional bios.
First, I hate speaking about myself in the third person. And second, although I’m proud of the things I’ve done, I’m weary of reinforcing the belief that only people with long fancy bios can get things done. The reality is that every long list of accomplishments began with one thing.
Anyways, since this happens to be my little corner of the internet, I’m going to switch things up.
Here are three things you should know about me:
I love learning - When people ask me what I’d do if I didn’t have to work ever again, the answer is simple: I’d be a full-time student. Lucky for me, you can work and learn (and in fact sometimes it better that way).
I get very excited about a good planner - Planning is key to getting things done - and I love getting things done. Give me good planner, some nice pens, a few post its and basically, you’ve turned me into a drum thumping pink bunny that keeps going and going and going.
I’m an optimist - This might sound corny, but I believe in people. I think we’re all capable of more than we think we are. And…I know from experience that it can be hard to trust ourselves and our capabilities. That’s why I launched “Do the Thing.”
Now, if you’re looking for something a little more traditional, here you go:
I wear many hats, all of which I love. I’m a small business owner and coach. I’m the Canadian Director of Market Strategy for a pet food manufacturer. In my spare time I also volunteer as the Chair of the Board at the Parkdale Community Food Bank.
I’m an avid dreamer and doer who resents being told that something is “too hard” or “impossible.” I launched “Do the Thing” to help other people dream and do their thing.
My LinkedIn has my full professional history. Check it out if that’s your jam.
And if credentials are your thing, here you go:
I’m an ICF and iPEC certified professional coach.
I also have a PhD in History from the University of Toronto and graduated from Seth Godin’s altMBA program.
